Group Home

Nirmaan- the group home is an idea conceptualized because of the dire personal situation of one young adolescent with autism spectrum, who was under our treatment. He suddenly lost his mother to cancer and the rest of the family felt that it was a difficult task to take care of him. We, along with a few other parents, did quite a lot of brainstorming and came to know about the Jewish group home model. It is a unique model where a few young adults with special needs live together with the help of support staff for five weekdays. On weekends they can go to their biological home.

In this model, neuro-diverse young adults are learning adaptive skills, skills for adult independent living, co-existence, and acquiring the necessary survival skills. At the same time, they can be assured of the love and care of their biological family.
